n[2]s Jam Session – 23 April 2010

•April 18, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Wassup, you all …

Hope you’re all well! You are? That’s awesome!

Well it’s that time of the month where we’re get together for an all nighter jam session and since you’re all well, I guess we’ll be seeing all of you there! (see what i did there?)

Here are all the particulars:

When: 23rd April 2010 (this Friday coming!) @ 9pm
Where: Meet first at Maccas @ The Entertianment Centre, then we’ll be making our way towards the jam spot (usually Gate A, frequented by almost ALL of Sydney’s hip hop scene)
Who: All you guys! Yes you…even you back there! Why? Because we love you? Yeah maybe. Most important though is that at some point you’ve expressed interest in dancing, all night, with good people and good music. What you want is what we provide!

For those of you who are new to the whole night to sunrise (n[2]s) jam session, be sure to check out our blog for a run down on what we’re all about or check out this story at the CRITICAL HYPE site (check it out for a whole lot of profiles/coverage on hip hop dancers and events)!

For the night, it’d be great if you guys could bring your iPods with tracks to play and bring your cameras. Take photos and footage. Get interviews with other people, get their stories and make sure you bring a good attitude. Everyone is there to dance so make sure you’re up to support each other and help out where you can. I also implore those jammers who frequent our sessions to also help out the new cats and make them feel welcome! :)

That’s enough from me for now. However if you do have any questions, feel free to hit us up on this email, or you can contact either myself or Chris on the numbers below!

Oh yeah, check out our invite vid we’ve posted up on YOUTUBE and be sure to subscribe to our channel for footage of the night and our sunrise touch freestyles and for any other updates and announcements!

Rightio! I’m out. Have a good week and we’ll see you on Friday!

Apologies for the long overdue note everyone. Chris and myself have been hella busy lately with crazy shift work and getting older and all that shit.

We just wanted to send out this quick note to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who came down for the October n2s 1 year birthday jam!

I’m sure Chris will agree with me that it was in fact the biggest turnout we’ve ever had, and with the hordes of onlookers that spilled out from the entertainment centre, I’m sure it looked quite the spectacle!

When Chris and I get a chance to sit down, we’ll go through all the videos and make a more appropriate note about last months jam (as well as advise on the next n2s jam session).

Again, thank you to EVERYONE that came down to jam and/or chill with us! It was an epic night and I’m sure we all had heaps of fun which is what dancing is supposed to be innit? hehehe

Peace for now and make sure you keep on Dancing!

n[2]s September ’09

•September 20, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Greetings er’body!

N[2]S September ’09 was a major success (as are most of the jam sessions so far) The night was active throughout with visits from many familiar faces -

Darrio, Scrappy, Paolo + friends,
Shirley, Robin, Maryanne, Mika,Linny, Kobe.

The night started with one of the founding members – Mark – kick starting the night off with a routine he made himself to Bryan leslies track “Gibberish” (2009). The track went down well and everyone enjoyed a smooth entrance into the night. The routine itself was chilled and had a good groove to it – ideal for those that came on the night! I’m currently editing the videos from the night and will update all videos from all other n2s’s once we get some nitty gritty organisation outta the way…

Although not dance related.. i just cant seem to get over how entertaining drunken girls are when they’re fighting each other/girls fighting guys… Too bad my camera wasnt actually recording that whole time! haha…

Kobe -if you guys ever meet this champ, ask him what new words he’s learnt since moving down here from China 2 months ago ;) ! RESPECTA ! haha

I’d like to thanks to Shirley and Kobe for making a routine trip down with us at n2s. The energy given from all members is always appreciated! helps keeps us all alive at night haha new talent is always welcome/wanted at our jam sessions!

Maryanne / Mika also came down as n2s virgins and had theirs popped to our track by none other than Musiq Soulchilds – Just friends - Routine for this track was sikk! too bad the girls left early that night – hence why the routine was so short.. but not to worry.. ill upload the vids anyway lol

That’s a wrap for n2s September.. theres not much else i can say that happened out of the ordinary – Random drunks – passerbys – new talent thats scouted is all but a regular occurance at n2s… =]

N[2]S October marks the one year anni since we started so lets hope its a big one!

remember all…

Whenever you hear a track played and feel a niggling feeling inside… it’s your body egging you on to just dance… so just do it!

peace
Chris

“do you remember … the 21st first night … of September”
-Earth Wind & Fire

Hello to all fellow dancers,

Hope everyone’s been well and been keeping out of trouble (as much as possible anyway). We’ve got another all night jam session coming up and this is your ticket to some nocturnal shenanigans.

n[2]s Jam session

Who: Come one, come all. In whatever format you’ve received this, be sure to forward it onto your friends, regardless of whether or not you think they’d be interested or not! lol

What: n[2]s September Jam session

When: From 9:00pm Friday 18th September 2009 to 5:00am Saturday 19th September 2009

Where: Meet at Entertainment Centre McDonalds

Why: Cos you know you want to … dance! :P

We’ll try as much as we can to keep the format going where we teach a routine at the beginning of the night. It may just be that we’ll make it up on the fly or make up a new dance move to teach to the kiddies hehehe. Either way, there’ll be another faux battle and of course, the sunrise touch freestyle!

Danceskool $2 Allstyle Battle – 26/07/09 MJ Tribute

    •July 30, 2009 • Leave a Comment

    Hey guys,

Karen Otero and myself took part in a MJ Tribute Battle run by Danceskool on Sunday. Danceskool run these $2 battle events where beginners can get in on the battling action against their peers in a safe environment. Teachers are allowed to take part as well, however on this particular occassion, they weren’t allowed to battle using their favoured style.

Anywhoo, so Kaz and I gave it a go, Karen being a battle star extrodinare (hehehe) and myself being the battle n00b (really!). The rules are simple:

    1. Teams consist of two people (2 vs. 2)
    2. Dancers can utilise any dancing style and there are no restrictions as to when they can use it (unless you’re a teacher of danceskool, wherein you aren’t allowed to use your favoured dancing style).
    3. All music played is final, you get whats give. On this event, it was all Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and Jackons 5 music.
    4. No fighting/swearing etc …
    5. No intentional wackness (even though this is a made up rule, I had trouble adhering to it! lol)

The following videos are what eventuated!

    Battle 1 … FIGHT!

    Win!!!

    Battle 2 … FIGHT!

    No Win!!! hehehehe

Be sure to check out the other battles. Points of interest include:

These fellas Chris and I met at a performance back in May. They had only danced a month and dropped this mad routine back then. If I recall correctly they’re only 15 or what not. They did well so be sure to give em mad props! Check em out!

Gene is also another guy to keep your eye out on! He happened to jam with us during our last n2s and his popping is more than impressive! He and his battle partner really brought it on the night and their battles went as so!

Be sure to check out all the dance battles on this users page, and subscribe! While you’re at it, make sure if you haven’t already to subscribe to our channel at www.youtube.com/n2sjamsessions. Make sure you tell your friends about us!

Alright, time for me to get back to work! Take care, stay safe and keep dancing!!!
